The Girl I Love

Updated: Sep 22, 2020

This has been on my mind for long, as long as 3 years. I wrote my first proper poem back then when I was in class 8, and dedicated it to myself as my birthday was approaching. And sadly I tore it off with a heavy heart because of something.

I've always wanted to rewrite it and here you go, the same poem with different lines. I've retained just the first few lines.

The Girl I Love

The Girl I love,

Is the one to whom I need not bow,

With Specs adorning her face,

And skin not as smooth as lace,

The girl I love is the prettiest I've ever seen,

Happy and hard times, with her I've been.

She may not soften the blow,

while she talks, but her words do have a hidden glow.

She can set things right ,

And make my life bright,

With just a single thought.

Oh,is that why I'm so caught

in her, is she my Nest

that I keep returning to her when I need rest?

So that I realise again and 'gain that she is the Best.

In times of doom and gloom

And also when I fume,

She is there to make my life abloom.

To her I vent my grief,my anger,my pain.

She is there to help me without any strain.

She - the girl I love.

With her I can be myself,no doubt.

And open my heart, life throughout.

My travel with her shan't end

We'll see together the bends

Sail through the storms and traverse through the tunnels of life without our love transformed

Until we are burned,

And even after the end of the world.

This poem unlocks the deepest recesses of heart. And in case you haven't already guessed it, the girl I love is me!!!

This poem was written sometime in early June and first published on Mad's Bookmarks on 12th June 2020.
